Who is Craig Lamson I found photography in the mid 70’s and a love affair began that has lasted over 30 years. That first camera, a Minolta 35mm, along with a very basic darkroom started my journey. With them I found my vision and my passion…making images. There is something magical about seeing an image in your minds eye, and making it real on a sheet of paper. It’s a feeling that still thrills me to this day, even though the process is different and the tools have changed. Along the way I studied the masters like Weston and Adams and found that light is everything. Even something as simple as a pepper can be transformed by light. It was this study that shaped my future, and my fascination with the quality of light and its effect on the world around us. When I discovered advertising photography I knew I was home. I had the good fortune to work with some great advertising photographers and I used time wisely as I absorbed it all. It was an education second to none. As my career grew I learned to wear many hats. I worked for thriving commercial photography studios, ran a small photography business, worked as a corporate in-house photographer and even spent some time as the Director of Marketing at two different companies. It was this time sitting at the marketing desk that brought it all full circle. I saw the advertising photography business from your side of the desk. I hired photographers, fought for budgets and worked on short deadlines. What I learned further shaped the photographer within me. Almost ten years ago I built a new photography business based on a lifetime of learning. The core concept was to provide stunning imagery that helped sell product, and to do so with a minimum of hassle to the client. That business has morphed into Craig Lamson Photo. Gone are the confines of the studio. Today’s business climate requires flexibility and Craig Lamson Photo fulfills that demand by bringing the studio to you. Regardless of the setting, my love affair with photography continues.
